Attributing failure to the habits of the CEO or some other senior executive is poor reasoning. It is not that some unsuccessful executives do not have these habits, it's just that successful ones have them, too, as do many average managers. Instead, I wanted to address the fallacy because of the larger collateral damage caused by that type of thinking. Without such learning, organizations are doomed to make the same strategic mistakes, over and over again. On the issue of poor leadership character and behavior, the seven habits approach also provides a disservice.
